In the Museum’s archives are many photographs of the Pipestone Indian Training School as well as Annual and Quarterly reports 1912-1924 and 1929-1939. The reports contain names of students and their ages in attendance at the time of the report, their tribal affiliation, date first entered the school, what instructions they were taking during the quarter, and more.

Minnesota Reflections contains a digital collection of photographs of the Indian School.

If you would like to learn more about one student’s experiences at the school pick up Pipestone: My Life in An Indian Boarding School in the Museum Gift Shop.

The National Archives at Kansas City contain files for students that attended the school. View a list of student names and find out how to request the records.
